Infiniti unveils a cheaper M35h

Published: 04 Jul 2012

If you've been saving up for an Infiniti M35h GT, the world's fastest accelerating full-hybrid (and car that looks like most like it's melting), but you can't find the last few pennies behind the sofa, don't worry because a cheaper entry-level model has been unveiled - the GT.

Previously only available in GT Premium spec, Infiniti's 3.5-litre, 359bhp hybrid is now available with less kit, cutting the price by nearly £4k to £41k.

It'll still hit 62mph in 5.5 seconds, and top out at 155mph, all the while returning an entirely respectable 41mpg and 160g/km of CO2.

But this is all largely irrelevant. BMW's 535d is a fraction more expensive, but manages 52.3mpg, 142g/km of CO2 and near identical performance figures. It's better looking too, so people won't stop and stare at your awkward haunches as you roll down the street.

If you're into left-field alterative choices - we're talking to you, the person that bought a Microsoft Zune instead of an iPod - the M35h is worth considering. For everyone else, stick to the Bimmer.
