Seven reasons why you must buy this immaculate Clio V6

You must buy this stunning Renault Clio V6, for no other reason than that it’s a Clio V6. 

Seriously, what more do we need to say? The mid-mounted, Laguna-sourced 3.0-litre engine sends 252bhp to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. And just look at the thing... short wheelbase, super wide track and arches, Liquid Yellow paint. Fantastic.

What’s that? You need more convincing? Step this way then…

Reason number two for buying this particular Clio V6 would be that it’s a Phase Two example. The little super-hatch was overhauled in 2003 when production moved from Tom Walkinshaw Racing in Sweden to the Renault Sport plant in Dieppe. The Phase Two not only looked better, but power shot from 227bhp to 252bhp – making it the most potent production hot hatch on sale at the time of its release. 

With the aforementioned update also came a little more stability. The Phase One was known for being a little (how should we put this) twitchy, and a steering rethink plus some extra weight for the Phase Two helped massively. Although that’s not to say it wouldn’t keep you on your toes.

So, to reason number four – the mileage. This particular example has covered just 7,600 miles in its 15-year life. Apparently it’s only driven once a year by its current and first owner, who takes it down to Tewkesbury Classic Car Festival and then pops it back in the garage…

And that leads us nicely to part five of our quest to convince you to buy this thing (only so we don’t have to). This is the most immaculate Clio V6 we’ve seen for sale in years. The fantastic sports exhaust has barely been discoloured by heat, and it has never been driven in the rain. Not once. 

Did we mention that it’s rare too? Just 1,309 Phase Twos were built between 2003 and 2005, and only 354 of those made it to the UK in right-hand drive form. This one’s number 304 of that lot.

The final reason for getting your hands on this thing? Values are skyrocketing. Although with online auction site The Market giving this one an estimate of between £40,000 - £60,000, you could say that values have already skyrocketed. Hmm, 60-grand for a Clio. Hide the credit cards people, this could get very expensive…
