SCG's 750bhp supercar aims for outright Nürburgring lap record

Feast your eyes on - potentially - the fastest ever road-legal production car to lap the Nürburgring. Ladies and gentlemen, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has revealed that its upcoming SCG003S supercar is aiming for a - get this - 6m 30s lap time.

Six minutes. Thirty seconds. To channel Keanu Reeves then, woah. The whole car will be revealed at next month's Geneva Motor Show, and there's a lot of car to understand, so here are some basics.

It's essentially a road-going version of the SCG racer that took class honours at the Nürburgring 24hrs last year, and is therefore primed for an all-out assault on the Car Internet's favourite playground.

There's a carbonfibre chassis packing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing a bit more than 750bhp. SCG reckon on a 0-62mph time of less than three seconds, and a top speed the scary side of 217mph. Oh, and cornering forces topping 2G. As Christian von Koenigsegg has repeatedly told us, the art of a tidy lap time is all in the cornering forces.

Of course, it's just a theory, with SCG yet to actually go and, y'know, perform the aforementioned lap time. But they're confident. "It is expected to be the fastest ever road-legal car to lap the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a lap time anticipated to be nearly half a minute faster than the current production car record," SCG say.

"The target that has been set is an astonishing six minutes and 30 seconds: within 20 seconds of the famous all-time Nordschleife record of six minutes and 11 seconds established by Stefan Bellof in 1983, and annihilating the present benchmark of six minutes and 57 seconds..."

That last 'benchmark' of course, is Porsche's 918 Spyder, followed ever so closely by the non-hybrid, fully-mad Lamborghini Aventador SV (6m 59s). There is of course, the small caveat of such lap times being independently verified, uniform, and so on, and the fact that the SCG003S is essentially a racecar with numberplates (so's the Radical that claims to hold the outright production car record of six minues 48 seconds). But still.
