This Brabus G-Wagen is ready for a UK snow day
And it can help in the event of some sort of global virus too
Meet the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP. It’s essentially a Mercedes-AMG G63 pick-up with very little chintz, and it has immediately become our favourite G-Wagen. Just look at it! Perfect for if those crumbling flakes of snow outside are giving you the willies.
It’s 69cm longer than a regular G, with the vast majority of that in the wheelbase. The G63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 has been tuned up from 577bhp to a stonking 789bhp, which is, well, enough. Enough for 0-62mph in 4.8secs and a top speed of 130mph, the latter actually limited by the newly knobbly off-road tyres.
There’s a comprehensive suspension overhaul for extra off-road toughness, with ground clearance upped to 49cm. There are tougher panels and a big old winch at the front. And, in a completely on trend move, the pick-up bed can allow drones to take off and land.
Get really clicky with the configurator and Brabus will fit a ‘Wingcopter’ on the back, one with a 150mph top speed that trumps its host car. It could be extremely handy if, say, a big scary virus was gripping our population and aid needed to be delivered to sufferers remotely…
Prices start at around £330,000 for a stock 800 Adventure XLP, but you can double that if you want a First Edition (like you see here) with a Wingcopter atop its deck.
