Bentley's Conti GTC Mulliner is quilted for your comfort
Normal Bentley Continental not leathery enough for you? Step this way
We know that Bentley is preparing something special for next month’s Geneva Motor Show. We also know that this… isn’t it.
Called the ‘Bacalar’ and hand-built by the company’s Mulliner division, the special EXP 100 GT-inspired car has promised to deliver “Grand Touring at its most exhilarating”. Alongside it on Bentley’s stand will be this thing – the new Mulliner-spec Continental GT Convertible.
“Created to appeal to those customers wanting an even greater focus on beautiful details” over and above the normal Conti GTC, the Mulliner gets a new diamond-themed front grille and side vents, quilted leather on literally every surface (even the tonneau cover) and 22-inch polished alloys with floating centre caps that remain upright as the wheels rotate.
Beyond that there are new leather and trim choices, seven different kinds of mood lighting, a Breitling clock and much Mulliner branding. Buyers also get a leather-covered key that matches their car’s interior.
No mechanical changes to speak of, but that’s ok. You can either have the V8, which manages 198mph and 0-60mph in four seconds, or the 207mph, 3.8sec to 60mph W12.
You’ll know, if you’ve read our review, that the Conti GT Convertible is already as opulent a convertible as money can buy short of a Rolls Royce Dawn. Does it really need all these Mulliner bits and pieces? You decide. Price? If you have to ask...
