Forza Horizon 6 will be showing us some gameplay very soon
Mark 22 January in your diaries: Playground Games is about to lift the curtain
If Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t eat up an amount of our time in 2026 equivalent to parenting an infant, we’ll be amazed. The pedigree of the series, and the studio behind it, are unrivaled in the arcade open-world festival-based racing game genre, and this time it’s in Japan! Hard to imagine that’ll make for a bad game.
And we say that with complete confidence despite not having, you know… seen a single second of gameplay yet. But all that’s about to change.
On 22 January at 6pm (UK time), Microsoft’s Developer Direct livestream will be taking place and Playground Games are, quite literally, centre stage. They’ll be showing off the first gameplay for FH6 ever seen, which means we’ll get our first chance to spot which cars are on the roster and whether they’re shiny enough for our delectation.
As it happens, Playground Games is also working on Fable, that RPG with all the cameos in its trailers from British comedy icons, and sharp writing. It’s one of the most anticipated upcoming titles across the industry, and even though we’re fairly sure even at this early stage that there will be absolutely zero Mercedes AMG-ONEs in it, it’s bound to still be fantastic despite that heavy impediment.
Forza Horizon 6 was announced back in September via one of those trendy, enigmatic trailers that show you absolutely nothing, other than the fact it’ll take place in Japan. In the vacuum left by that absence of info, TG wrote a blueprint for our ideal next series entrant and we think you’ll agree our vision is absolutely perfect.
