Aston Martin has updated its £70k Valkyrie-inspired sim with… Red Bull colouring
In fairness, it’s a big tech and software leap over its predecessor. And comfier too, apparently
Wondering how to fill that awkward, unused space in your living room? The new ‘AMR-C01-R’ seems like suitable statement piece - particularly since it features some big changes over the original we tested a few years ago.
The R continues Aston Martin’s collaboration with rig experts Curv Racing Simulators, and while the 49in curved display is no larger, it has been upgraded with double the refresh rate (240Hz) to improve responsiveness.
The NVIDIA-supplied graphics card is also stronger than before, now feeding a 14th-gen Intel processor to provide more memory (32GB) and storage (2TB). Technically speaking, it should be a far superior product to its predecessor.
We’re not done yet either. The seat gets more refined ergonomics to improve comfort, and the seating position itself is now lower, akin to being in an actual Aston Martin Valkyrie. The repositioned switchgear is also less intrusive, apparently.
Cosmetically, the all-carbon monocoque stays put, but the signature Aston grille gets a slight revision to look a little sportier. It's also being shown off for the first time in this navy blue livery, which makes it look more Red Bull than Aston.
"The AMR-C01 was a game-changer when it launched in 2020, and the AMR-C01-R takes it to the next level," said Curv boss and Aston Martin development driver Darren Turner. "We’ve refined the ergonomics and performance to make it even more immersive, intuitive and future-proof."
Just 50 of these Rs will be made and each one will cost around £70k. Best get that order in quickly.
