These BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses put a head-up display in front of your eyes

The future is here people. BMW wants motorbike riders to experience head-up displays

Published: 07 Jul 2023

Fresh off the back of unveiling the super cool CE 02 electric scooter thing, BMW Motorrad has announced a new accessory that’s properly futuristic…

The ConnectedRide Smartglasses are essentially a pair of glasses for bike riders that project information into your eyes like a head-up display in a car. Magic.

The display shows your navigation in real time with arrows for directions, but also your speed, the speed limit and the gear you’re in if you’re riding a combustion-powered bike.

The glasses are connected to an app via Bluetooth, and a small lithium-ion battery allows you to run them for 10 hours before they need recharging. BMW says there are two sizes available but they can be adapted to fit ‘numerous helmets and face shapes’.

They can be adapted with different lenses for glasses-wearers and each pair comes with two sets of lenses: one that’s 85 per cent transparent for use with helmets and one that’s tinted for turning the smartglasses into sunglasses.

That’s it then folks. The future is here. What do we think?
