Citroen news - Frankfurt show: Citroen Revolte - 2009
Citroen's 2CV-inspired concept - teased in shadowy purple form last week - has been revealed in all its pram-roofed glory, and it is called the Revolte.
No, really, it is. We think it's meant to be read as Re-Volt-E, indicating the car's electric-hybrid powertrain, but Revolte it is spelled so Revolte we shall say.
Though it's similar in size to the C2, the Revolte doesn't point to any future production car, says Citroen.
That's a pity - there are some neat, if somewhat overblown, styling cues, including a 500C-style folding roof (though, unlike the Fiat, it's packed with solar cells), suicide rear doors, an aggressive front end, and McLaren F1-esque seating for three.
Though Citroen is staying curiously coy on the details of the Revolte's powertrain, we know it'll be driven by a small petrol engine mated to an electric motor and battery pack, and will be capable of running in full electric mode. How fast or for how long, we have no idea.
Citroen describes the Revolte as ‘a fashionable, glamorous and clearly feminine accessory'. Much like the lovely Ms Scherzinger, then?
