Viva Las Vegas! Alpine lets its hair down with one-off livery

Team with nothing to play for jazzes up its paint job (mildly) for Vegas

Published: 14 Nov 2023

Alpine is unique among F1 teams in that its position in the 2023 standings is mathematically certain with two races to go. With the exception of Red Bull of course, which locked down top spot a considerable amount of time ago.

So with the first of two dead rubbers on the horizon this weekend, it’s gone all in on the classic ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ with this special one-off livery.

It’s the result of a partnership with Palace (a skateboarding brand) and Kappa (an apparel… thing), hence the blue and pink camo vinyl on the A523.

Fans will also be able to clad themselves in a tonne of associated gear - including tracksuits, polo shirts and body warmers - at a pop-up shop on site in Vegas. The thermal stuff might be handy actually: temperatures are expected to fall into the single figures when the night race gets underway…

Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will also be donning one-off race suits, as modelled in the cut-the-tension-with-a-spoon image in the gallery above. “We have different personalities…” Gasly admitted on the Beyond the Grid podcast lately.

Alpine isn’t the only team mixing things up for Vegas: Ferrari is running a tribute to the Seventies chapter of its history book… for a city F1 last raced in in 1982. Nope, us neither.

What do we reckon, folks?
