Red Bull did the fastest ever pit stop in F1 history

Take a bow, Red Bull pit crew – 1.91 seconds is blindingly quick

Published: 17 Jul 2019

The 2019 British Grand Prix was a thriller, not least because the two Mercs up front had a little bit of a back and forth, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc had a bigger battle that seemed to last for an eternity, and Sebastian Vettel had a massive crash.

Other things happened too, of course. Like this: Red Bull pitting Pierre Gasly for a new set of tyres and managing to switch them over in 1.91 seconds. 1.91 seconds! Say it in Doc Brown’s voice from Back To The Future, and it gets even better. 1.91!

Actual James Bond was in attendance (Daniel Craig), who was ringside as the crew performed the record-breaking pit stop. F1’s official source tells us this 1.91sec stop was 0.01sec quicker than the previous fastest ever pit stop time, held then by Red Bull and Williams. Mind. Blown.

Apparently there’s a whole league table – DHL’s Fastest Pit Stop Award – and, unsurprisingly, Red Bull now top it with 266 points (you get 25 for each one).

But you don’t care about league tables for fastest pit stops, you want to see the fastest pit stop. Head over to F1’s official YouTube channel for the footage.
