The British GP will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2034

The historic venue hosted over 480,000 attendees last year, with the next race penned in for early July

Published: 08 Feb 2024

The British GP will stay on the Formula 1 calendar for the next 10 years, with a new deal struck between the FIA and the British Racing Drivers’ Club through to 2034.

It continues a long-standing association with the sport for Northamptonshire-based Silverstone, which hosted the first ‘official’ Grand Prix (GP) way back in 1950, and has continued to feature prominently since. In fact, seven of the sport’s 10 teams at present are located within a several-mile radius of the track.

The popularity of the showpiece event also continues to draw one of the largest crowds throughout the year too, with a record 480,000 attendees across the 2023 race weekend. That includes over 60,000 campers - how about that for dedication?

Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, said: “Silverstone is an iconic venue at the heart of F1 history and as it approaches its ninth decade hosting Grands Prix, the event continues to attract fans from around the world for fantastic racing on track and the amazing fan experience off it.”

The next British GP will take place between 5-7 July as part of the 2024 campaign, which kicks off on 29 February in Bahrain - the first of 24 races scheduled for this year.

Who’s looking forward to welcoming Lewis in rosso next year?
