What in Coco Chanel is this? DS’s next electric car will be called ‘N°8’
Confusion with skincare products and perfume awaits. Also, here's a sneak peak at the interior
Yup, it's another teaser for DS Automobile’s next electric car and not simply the full reveal of DS Automobile’s next electric car. Sigh. This is a revealing one though, because the coupe-SUV will be called... the ‘N°8’.
No, we’re not kidding. This is in fact the beginning of DS's new naming strategy, with all future models set to begin with 'N°' followed by a number that (as per) corresponds to the segment and vehicle size. Spare a thought for those who'll need to find that keyboard shortcut on the regular.
DS says it's a nod to the traditional way of writing the word ‘number’ in French, and that the degree symbol will take the shape of a diamond to symbolise 'elegance and class'. Right.
Presumably this means future generations of the DS 7 will need to be rebadged, lest people see a N°7 at their local dealership and confuse it for a branch of Boots.
Anyway, fresh photos of the car’s interior have landed too, showcasing a neat design coated with fine-looking leather, clean surfaces and multiple touchscreens. It’s a minimalist centre console, though the familiar Stellantis switchgear sits along the lower dash.
Strokes of ambient lighting are seen, erm, adding ambience too, with digitalised speakers perched high up on the doors and a haptic button-void, X-shaped steering wheel completing the main features.
Come on then, let’s hear your first impressions of the N°8 by Chanel. Wait, we meant DS!
