Volvo has given its shiny new XC60 a bigger 11.2in screen

And more tech. And… cupholders

Published: 19 Feb 2025

Big news in the world of mid-sized hybrid SUVs: Volvo has given the XC60 a facelift, which includes key technology and comfort updates to go with the restyled air intakes and smokier taillights. Still very handsome, we think.

There’s a larger 11.2in freestanding infotainment screen inside with 21 per cent higher pixel density for a sharper look. Something you’ll gratefully accept, given Volvo’s new middle child also gains the next-generation Snapdragon software, said to be almost twice as fast as the previous system.

Bits carried over from the pre-facelift car include an electric pan roof and crystal gear selector, plus a choice of upgraded audio systems from Harman Kardon (600w) or Bower & Wilkins (1,100w). And let's not forget the many beeps and bongs for things like park assist, lane departure and slippery road surfaces.

No changes mentioned to the powertrain lineup, so we’re expecting the all-wheel drive ‘B5’ to keep its place as the entry point. That means a 2.0-litre turbo-four and 48v mild hybrid system, good for 247bhp and a 0-62mph time just shy of seven seconds. The 32.4mpg economy estimate might raise an eyebrow though.

Alternatively, there’s a pair of plug-in hybrids: the 345bhp ‘T6’ and 449bhp ‘T8’. The 0-62 sprint is cut to 5.7s for the former and 4.9s for the latter, but, more importantly, the 18.8kWh battery in both means a claimed 51 miles of pure electric driving.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but do consider the previous XC60 started at £46k for the base version and rose to around £65k for the range-topper. And yes, you probably will still be able to get a Black Edition too should you wish.
