Video: hardcore Merc-AMG C63 goes hunting at the ‘Ring

Is it an ‘R’? Is it a ‘Black Series’? Only time will tell, but it looks excellent

Published: 10 Oct 2016

May we humbly present to you what looks like a hardcore Mercedes-AMG C63 doing hot laps at the Nürburgring. Yep, another day, another spy video of an upcoming performance machine.

Only this one is very interesting, not least because it sports a monster rear wing. Mercedes-AMG of course, has form in building monster ‘Black Series’ versions of the C63, but with the arrival of the AMG GT-R and its 577bhp, it’s not yet clear which badge this bewinged C-Class will wear. AMG boss Tobias Moers reassured TG at the Paris Motor Show that the Black Series badge will live on in crazy AMGs, but the AMG has got plenty on its plate with the new hypercar and variants of the GT right now.

Either way, expect it to be harder than the current C63 S. First off, you’ll notice that it wears a new front diffuser and a huge rear wing. So it’s clear this thing is aiming to be a bit of a downforce-happy track hooligan.

Power? Absolutely no idea, but for what it’s worth, it sounds… good. Will it get the same 577bhp as the AMG GT-R? More? Less? Only time will tell. Probably next year.

Furnish us with your speculation below, and we’ll report back when he have more news. Either way, the BMW M4 GTS will have some competition very soon...
