Playmobil is releasing a classic Porsche 911 Safari for kids
Really, it’s the perfect gift to kickstart their petrolhead induction process
Introducing Playmobil’s latest product: a retro 911 Dakar. Specifically, this is a nappy-friendly version of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 ‘Off-road’. Its host of modifications should also make it the ideal choice to perform 400mph power slides across the living room carpet floor, too.
Said modifications include a removable roof and seating for up to four figurines, while chunkier tyres are also fitted and a spare is provided for the eventual coffee table-induced puncture. Two additional fog lights along the front guard and four on the roof combine with the retro five-spoke alloys to round off the most notable exterior features.
Oh, you also get a spare petrol canister - for that additional dose of Capri Sun during stressful sofa ascents - and separate boulder and stand items to park the car at cool angles between naps.
Being a 911, the boot can be opened to unearth a detailed flat-six engine. In the real thing, this produces around 207bhp and a peak torque of 188lb ft, but do feel free to push both figures to two million when presenting it to its new owner.
The product will be made available in April, and priced at £54.35 ($69.99). That’s not bad, considering a real Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 ‘Safari’ could actually set you back two million...
