Mercedes will reveal a new entry-level concept car at the Munich motor show

Plus we’ll get a glimpse at the production spec electric G-Wagen and see the new E-Class All-Terrain for the first time

Published: 25 Jul 2023

In what seems an interesting move, Mercedes has let slip all of its plans for the Munich motor show (otherwise known as IAA Mobility) in September. Come on Merc, where’s the fun in that?

So, we now know that we’ll see the all-new E-Class All-Terrain at the show. That’ll be a lifted new shape E-Class with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain – not exactly ground-breaking, but likely to be cooler than most SUVs.

And speaking of SUVs, Merc will also provide us with a “first camouflaged glimpse of the electric series-production future of a Mercedes-Benz off-road icon". Translated into plain English, that means we’ll see the production spec Mercedes EQG wearing a camo wrap. Very exciting. We first saw the electric G-Wagen in concept form at Munich back in 2021, of course.

But both of those pale into insignificance compared to the main event. The image you see above is of a new and as-yet-unnamed concept car that we’re told shows Merc’s “vision for class-leading innovation, design and digital experience". And that’s not all, because it’ll be the German firm’s idea of a new entry-level EV.

Whether that means it’s an electric A-Class saloon, an electric C-Class saloon or something completely different entirely we do not know. Will be interesting to see where Mercedes thinks its entry point should be in this new era though.
