The Mercedes-AMG C43 is now more powerful

Biturbo V6 gets more power, while 43 gets new bits inside and out

Published: 22 Mar 2018

The Mercedes-AMG C43 is now more powerful, thanks to what Merc calls an ‘extensive’ upgrade on their two door performance models.

Both C43 Coupe and C43 Cabriolet feature a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine, now churning out 385bhp - 23 more than the previous models. It means the Coupe sprints from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, while the Cabriolet is only a tenth of a second behind. Both still produce a healthy 384lb ft of torque, and top out at a limited 155mph.

Though four-wheel-drive (that's the 4Matic bit), they are rear biased, and feature AMG's Speedshift TCT 9G Transmission, with 4 main MODES - comfort, sport, sport plus and a new mode called slippery. For, um, slippery conditions. Obvs.

There's now a more 'muscular' muscular face with a new grill, and of course an optional fully digital cockpit. The car also features new lightweight alloy wheels, meant to improve aerodynamics and brake cooling.

Other new features include a new steering wheel with the entertainment system being controlled through voice or touch swiping motions.

Naturally there are plenty of opportunities to empty your wallet into AMG's account, thanks to an optional AMG styling package: this brings in new front splitter, broader side skirts and a standard fit spoiler lip. A carbon fibre package simply makes the exterior mirror housing and the boot spoiler all carbon fibre. The Night package ‘contains black elements’ according to Mercedes and there is vast optional interior customisation ranging from sports seats to trim and material.

Both cars will go on sale in April with first deliveries arriving in July.
