Here’s your first look at the new, electrified Vauxhall Astra
Vauxhall teases next-generation hatchback, including its new VIZORFACE
Here is officially A Bit of the new Vauxhall Astra. The company has released a few teaser images - and details - of its really quite important new hatch, and they are thus.
We know this Astra will come with a VIZOR – Vauxhall’s terminology for its new front end design – that works rather well on the Mokka. Said VIZOR will house ultra-slim LED headlights too, while at the back, the new Astra will feature an ‘Astra’ nameplate, which is handy.
A pair of natty widescreen touchscreen displays headline the new dashboard, while ‘finely crafted keys’ – actual physical buttons! – control what Vauxhall deems ‘core’ functionality. As you can see from the pictures, the new Astra will also feature a ‘steering wheel’ that includes buttons of its own.
That aside, we’re told this’ll be the first generation of Astra to be ‘electrified’ (read: ‘hybrid’). TG suspects it’ll be spun off the same base as the Peugeot 308 (Vauxhall is part of the Stellantis empire now, don’t forget), and will come in five-door hatch and estate guise. Don't discount the possibility of a full Astra EV in the future...
The omens for this new Astra look good. You’ll be able to see the entire thing soon, so watch this space.
