This is the freshly facelifted Kia Sportage*

Well, it’s the long-wheelbase US version, but the European refresh should look similar and arrive in 2025

Published: 21 Nov 2024

The Kia Sportage was the fourth best-selling car in the UK in 2023, and so far it’s on track to better its position in that list in 2024. So, a facelift is pretty big news. Although hold your horses just for one moment, because this is actually the long-wheelbase version that’s sold in North America.

We’ve been told by Kia UK that our Sportage refresh should arrive at some point towards the back end of 2025, though, and we expect the visual changes to be similar to these.

So, what are those changes? Well, Kia says that the Sportage now “takes on a more confident look”. Things are more squared off at both the front and rear, and there are new ‘Star Map’ LED lights and fresh bumpers. Standard facelift fare. Excellent wheels on that front and centre car up above too, we hope those make it across the pond.

Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, there’s also a standard 12.3-inch curved touchscreen inside and the option of a new 10-inch head-up display that provides info on ADAS systems and turn-by-turn directions.

In the US there are internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and we’re told that the turbo hybrid models will get a horsepower boost. All-wheel drive models out there will also get a new standard Terrain Mode with snow, mud and sand settings.

That’s about all the available info so far, but the Sportage is now Kia’s longest-running nameplate, and this fifth-gen car has been its best yet. Reckon this mid-life facelift improves it further?
