Citroen’s new £56k Holidays is a smart camper that can sleep up to four
Fridge? Check. Swivel chairs? Check. Extendable roof? Many checks
This is the new Citroen Holidays: a £56,590 home-from-home sleeper for up to four that’s got just about everything you need for a few weeks out in the wilderness. Please note: Monopoly board not included.
Let’s kick off with the interior. There’s a kitchen equipped with a 160-litre fridge, a pair of gas burners and a sink. The whole unit can even be retracted outside the vehicle to turn it into a proper barbecue station. Nifty.
Elsewhere, other amenities include a shower with up to 25 litres of water storage - or wine, since some people do prefer bathing in squashed grapes - and also a toilet. See that sliding bench inside? It’s also removable to open up even more space.
The front seats pivot, which will be quite useful for said game of Monopoly, while there’s a total of 27 litres of storage in the cubbyholes and sills dotted throughout, and a 230-volt external mains paired with a 95Ah battery to power… things.
Final cabin bits include a redesigned dashboard with a 10in infotainment touchscreen that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Citroen’s even gone and said it’s got 3D navigation… as if that hasn’t been a thing for 57 years now. You’ll also get a button-clad steering wheel and up to 17 driver aids and safety systems to presumably warn you of that fox that’s eyeing up your latest batch of beef patties.
Then there’s the dandy new exterior for company too, which features a new face with heavy laser eye treatment and 17in diamond-cut alloys out wide. Best be careful with those if you do fancy going totally off the grid.
You’ll be wondering about the powertrain at this point too: Citroen has confirmed the Holidays will be equipped with a BlueHDI 180 diesel engine and EAT8 eight-speed automatic transmission but is yet to announce exact outputs.
Orders can be placed later this summer, which means yours should be delivered in time for a wintery expedition this festive season.
