Are the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 Blackwings 200mph cars?

Caddy teases the range-topping models’ steering wheel, with an ominous number…

Published: 21 Aug 2020

This is a steering wheel. You may remember it from such hits as ‘turning left’, ‘turning right’, and even ‘frantically adjusting mid-corner oversteer’. Cadillac has released this picture of a steering wheel, because it’s the steering wheel from its upcoming CT4-V and CT5-V ‘Blackwing’ cars.

Cadillac talks about the leather wheel with its special stitching and top-dead-centre red stripe and… wait, what’s that lurking on the dashboard? Is that… is that the number 200? Has Cadillac given us a little tease as to the Blackwing’s performance?

Only time will tell. That time being next year, probably, when both the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing models will be available. We know of course, that Blackwing is Caddy’s very top performance category, going up against the likes of BMW’s M cars and Mercedes-AMG. 200mph in the company of such cars will make that fight a good one.

Reckon on a supercharged V8 for the CT5-V Blackwing, and a turbo V6 for the CT4-V Blackwing. Both saloons will get manual gearbox options and of course, uprated chassis and vehicle control tech.

Indeed, “V-Series Blackwing signifies the ultimate in Cadillac performance and craftsmanship by combining the brand’s racing heritage with luxury and comfort to create the most track-capable Cadillacs ever,” says Caddy.

More as we have it.
