You can now be bored in a Mokka Electric for even further than before
Advent of Long Range model will prolong the tediu- sorry, transform your Vauxhall-based convenience
Perhaps we’ve been a bit harsh with the headline: the Mokka is by our own admission a bit of a looker with lots of kit. It ain’t a thrill, is what we're trying to say.
Anyway, the Mokka Electric has now borrowed the newer, more efficient motor and battery set-up from the Corsa Electric, pushing range up from 209 to 252 miles between charges. We won’t say no to that.
This ‘Long Range’ option is only four kilowatt-hours better off at 54kWh gross, but liquid cooling and a heat pump push official efficiency up to 4.1mi/kWh, hence the healthier figure.
Power is up too, with 154bhp and 191lb ft good enough for 0-62mph in nine seconds flat. An entire two tenths brisker than the 134bhp version, we should add.
Any guesses for the top speed? Do you even care? It’s 93mph. You never know, it might come up on Pointless or The Chase one day.
DC charging of 100kW means service station turnaround times of less than half an hour, and if your home can manage it, up to 11kW on an AC supply. More than enough for an overnight top-up.
Order books for the Mokka Electric Long Range are open now and the first UK deliveries are set to take place in March. The base car will still be offered and it costs from £36,610, but the Long Range is only a grand more across each of Vauxhall’s Design, GS and Ultimate specs.
That makes it a no-brainer, right?
