Woah, Renault’s preparing an electric 5 concept with a big wing
New teaser image reveals show car “inspired by the world of video games”
Renault is paying tribute to the fastest version of its classic 5 supermini with a striking new electric concept. We do not yet know its name. We do not yet know its power. We do know it’ll look quite fantastic.
At least if these not-so-subtle teaser images are a good indication. To mark the 50th anniversary of the humble French hatch, the company looks set to release something mighty as a tribute “to its most legendary sports versions”.
Those’ll be the R5 Turbos, then, and the new electric concept at least fulfils the original’s shoes via the holy trinity of swollen arches, sports seats, and a ginormous rear wing that clearly doubles as an electricity pylon.
“This spectacular 100 per cent electric reinterpretation inspired by the world of video games will combine outstanding exuberance with high-level performance,” says Renault.
We do not yet know its name. We do not yet know its power. We do know it’ll debut on 22 September, so watch this space…
