The Winnebago e-RV is a 125-mile electric motorhome concept
Winnebago Industries unveils its first Ford Transit-based all-electric camper concept
Winnebago Industries has released a couple of images of its new e-RV concept, which it claims is the “first all-electric zero-emission motorhome from a major RV manufacturer". Big news in the camping world, then.
Developed by the company’s ‘Advanced Technology Group’, the e-RV is based on a large Transit van, although not Ford’s own upcoming E-Transit. Instead, Winnebago fits an electrical system that powers the drivetrain and everything in the living quarters.
Said system includes an 86kWh battery that would provide a total range of 125 miles. The e-RV won’t exactly get you into the wilderness, then, although Winnebago does say that the concept would “meet the needs of a majority (54 per cent) of new RV buyers”.
We haven’t been shown the interior yet (odd for a motorhome, right?) but apparently it uses sustainable materials on the floor and walls. Features include a kitted-out kitchen, a bathroom with shower and even onboard wifi.
Is this the future of camping?
