Want an RS e-tron GT in a winter jacket? Audi's got you... *covered*
It’s called the ‘Ice Race’ edition and just four of the allocated 99 examples will come to the UK, with pricing set at over £150k each
Audi has revealed a limited-run version of its four-door RS e-tron GT called the ‘Ice Race’ edition. It pays homage to the 40th anniversary of the annual GP Ice Race at Zell am See in the Austrian Alps and will be priced at £150,630 a pop. Just 99 examples will be made, with four coming to the UK.
Let’s attempt to declutter the silly exterior, shall we? The main colour coat is Florett Silver metallic, which has been given a black CFRP roof and then foil-wrapped with silver and white accents, which act as references to snow crystals and ice lakes. Why stop there, Audi? A few polar bears and penguins wouldn’t have hurt.
Violet detailing also resides, which is meant to resemble the bright-blue-coloured, oversized sunglasses that are worn by winter athletes (and those who think they’re winter athletes because they once fell off a slope). The final exterior changes include dark privacy glass and 21in black alloys.
The theme continues inside the Ice Race edition, with a diamond silver and black seat design complemented by violet stitching. The Fine Nappa leather also extends along sections of the centre console, instrument panel and doors. You also get diamond silver and violet stitching on the floor mats, which will probably ditch the winter design for an autumnal one after you make a few trips to the park.
If by some divine intervention you missed the fact this was a special edition car, the infotainment screen also states the specific model number out of the 99. Upgraded seat ventilation and massage functionality, as well as a reworked Bang & Olufsen audio system and head-up display, have also been added.
The changes will remain purely aesthetic however, so the e-tron GT’s two electric motors and 84kWh battery still combine to provide 637bhp and 612lb ft of torque to the quattro all-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, the e-tron GT’s driving range sits at approximately 295 miles, though the added weight of the fancy-schmancy paintwork will probably slash this by three or four miles. Or 50 when the heating is used.
