The successors to the Vauxhall Crossland and Grandland will come with all-electric variants
Stop the press! Vauxhall has confirmed that two new electric SUVs will arrive next year
As it edges ever closer to its 2028 deadline for becoming an electric-only brand, Vauxhall has announced that the successors to the Crossland and Grandland SUVs (that's the current Crossland in the image above, by the way) will launch next year. And surprise surprise, there will be all-electric variants.
Now, they may just be humdrum crossovers, but this is fairly big news as it’ll mean that the entire Vauxhall range – from Corsa and Astra right the way through to Grandland (including all the vans) – will be available to buy with an electric powertrain if you so choose.
That doesn’t mean it’s the end for internal combustion though, because you’ll still be able to buy turbo petrol and hybrid Vauxhalls in the UK until 2028. In fact, a new 48V mild-hybrid setup will arrive for the facelifted Corsa later this year. That’ll come with either 99bhp or 134bhp and is set to use a dual-clutch auto gearbox.
James Taylor, managing director of Vauxhall, said: “2024 will see us achieve the significant milestone of offering a fully-electric variant across our entire model line-up. It also confirms that going forward, all future Vauxhall models will be offered with a fully-electric variant from launch – demonstrating our commitment towards driving Britain to a brighter, electric future.”
