Paul Smith’s latest one-off Mini is an all-electric restomod
1998 Paul Smith Edition Mini gets an EV powertrain and fully stripped interior
Last year fashion designer and colourful sock creator Paul Smith collaborated with Mini to produce the one-off Strip – a lightweight, environmentally-friendly Mini Electric with a stripped-back interior that used a host of recycled materials.
And now Smith is back with yet another custom one-off. Will somebody check he’s not being held hostage? Anyway, this time the base is a bright blue 1998 Paul Smith Edition, but Mini has deployed its new Recharged conversion kit to turn the classic little Rover into an EV.
Smith has had a crack at redesigning the interior at the same time too, with elements from the Strip like the bare floor pan that’s only covered by some recycled rubber floormats. Plus, most of the original instruments have been removed and replaced with a gloriously-designed magnetic phone holder.
It’s properly stripped back in there and looks excellent, with a removable steering wheel, bright orange seatbelts and lovely fabric seats (as you’d expect).
What do we think, Internet?
