The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept concept is coming to Goodwood

The electric concept pitched as the heir to the Lexus LFA will make its European debut at the Festival of Speed

Published: 31 May 2022

Lexus’s mad, fully-electric concept car with a 0-62mph time in the low twos will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed between 23-26 June, the company has announced.

Previously unnamed, Lexus has decided that the car - which boss of parent company Toyota, Akio Toyoda, reckons will share “the secret sauce” of the legendary LFA supercar - will be called… the Electrified Sport Concept. Bit bland, but who cares when that kind of acceleration is being dangled in front of us?

We’re yet to learn more about the Electrified Sport Concept, beyond that it will have a range of 430 miles. Lexus says it may utilise solid-state battery tech (which Nissan is pinning its hopes on) in order to ‘achieve authentic high performance’. Which is the best kind of high performance.

And let’s not forget that Goodwood is now ruled by an electric powertrain: the Volkswagen ID. R broke the hillclimb record at the Festival of Speed back in 2019, smashing the previous benchmark of a McLaren F1 car that had stood for 20 years.

Lexus also plans to showcase its new yoke-bearing RZ 450e SUV at Goodwood, plus its UX 300e crossover; the first battery-electric car to reach its line-up.

Too much EV stuff for your liking? Perhaps Gordon Murray will turn up in a T.50 to balance things out…
