The IM L6 is a new electric saloon with a 500-mile range
IM is MG owner SAIC’s new electric-only brand, and it’s promising a car that’ll do 0-62mph in under 3s
A posh new electric saloon from the MegaCorp that owns MG Motor UK will soon be revealed. It is called the IM L6, and its makers reckon it’ll do over 500 miles on a single charge.
And, says IM, this upcoming L6 will also be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in less than three seconds. This is really very fast. Tesla, Taycan and assorted other Big Posh Electric Saloons, watch out, etc etc.
There’ll initially be two versions of the IM L6: one with over 500 miles of range courtesy of a solid state battery, and one with over 370 miles running off a lithium-ion unit. Both versions will of course be packed with “leading-edge levels of technology”. Stuff like advanced driver assistance, connected services, the ability to expertly toast your sourdough and other things you'd associate with Big Posh Electric Saloons.
IM already builds something like this for China - sans sourdough, sadly - and it’s called the L7. That’s the car pictured above. We won’t see the new L6 until the Geneva Motor Show which is next week. Indeed we won't see IM launch in Europe until 2025, at which point it wants to face off against the more expensive end of the EV spectrum: “executive saloons and larger SUVs”.
