The HiPhi Y finally says hi
The launch of the high-tech, high-performance, (probably) high-priced Y
The third model from HiPhi, the Y, has officially launched. The Y joins the seven-seater SUV, the X and 'Digital GT' the Z, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year.
The Chinese electric car brand debuted in Europe at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, giving punters a chance to see the mid-sized SUV alongside its stablemate, the Z, last weekend.
The all-wheel-drive, dual-motor variant peaks at 371kW of power, a 0-62mph time of 4.7 seconds and has over 500 miles of range with the bigger battery. Battery options are 76.6kWh or 115kWh.
We’re not entirely sure why Human Horizons, the parent company, has started from the back end of the alphabet, but with its no-touch automatic doors – opening out at the top like bird wings – and the arm-mounted robotic infotainment screen, the HiPhi Y is definitely different.
The Duke of Richmond, founder of the Festival of Speed, was apparently the first to get a personal tour of the futuristic electric vehicle (EV). He was reportedly 'impressed by the spacious interior and fancy doors'. Now we're wanting to nosey ourselves. Did you see it? What did you think?
Though it's available in China from now, European customers won't have to wait long. Get scheduling for a look-in before the year is out.
