Fiat is bringing back two old names for a new van and an MPV
The Ulysse and Scudo are back. Please do try to contain your excitement
Huge news – Fiat is bringing back the Ulysse and the Scudo nameplates on a new MPV and van respectively. We can sense your excitement through the interweb.
The image above is rather dark, but the new Ulysse and Scudo still look familiar don’t they? That’s because they’re based on Stellantis’ EMP2 platform, the same one used for the Peugeot Expert and Traveller, the Citroen Dispatch and SpaceTourer and the Vauxhall Vivaro. An ever so slight front bumper change and large FIAT badging is all that really sets the Italians apart from the rest of the bunch.
That platform does allow for fully electric versions of both though (in addition to diesels). There’s no powertrain details from Fiat just yet, but expect the EVs to get the same 134bhp motor and 50kWh battery (for 143 miles of range) as the rest of the Stellantis lineup.
The Scudo will come in Van, Combi and Cab configurations, while the Ulysse will be available in combinations that offer between six and nine seats. Both models will be built in France at the Stellantis Hordain plant, which is actually where the originals of both were constructed. Proper rebirth, this.
The only question that remains then, is when do we get a new Multipla? Come on Fiat, you know you want to…
