Fancy buying this actual Batmobile for £1.2m?

Amazingly, this 1990s stunt show Batmobile is actually a full EV

Published: 02 Dec 2022

Need something that’s Congestion Charge exempt to get you round central London? Woo boy have we got the car for you.

Yes, it’s a Batmobile that’s based on the iteration used in the 1989 Michael Keaton film, but it’s also an electric vehicle.

You see, this particular Batmobile was used for the Six Flags Batman Stunt Show that ran between 1992 and 1994 at the New Jersey amusement park. Powered by a 48-volt DC drivetrain (and not the Harrier jet engine in the middle, boo)  it had a top speed of between 25 and 30mph. Oh, and a hidden driver’s seat behind the two in the cockpit made it look like a genuine autonomous vehicle. Way ahead of its time, wasn’t it?

If that all sounds like something you’d like to commute in, you will need a fair bit of cash. Well, $1.5m to be precise (around £1.2m). The Six Flags Batmobile is currently for sale at Classic Auto Mall in the US, and it’d be fair to say they know what they’ve got.

There is just one small catch in this whole ‘new city car’ plan. Well, apart from the fact that it’s absolutely humongous, isn’t road legal and has a working flame thrower in the exhaust. No, the main problem is the listing states the Batmobile EV hasn’t been charged “since approximately 1993” and the seller says “we didn't want to risk a failure or fire”.

So, would you drop over £1m on this thing?
