Extreme E’s final race of the season will be in… Dorset
Hang on, what? Bovington Army Camp will host the last EV off-road race of the year
Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland – Extreme E has had some pretty extravagant locations on its calendar for this year’s inaugural season. Imagine our surprise, then, when the location for the fifth and final event of the season was announced.
Nope, it’s not Argentina as was first planned. It’s not the Australian Outback. It’s not Antarctica and it’s not the South Siberian Mountains.
It is… Dorset.
Yep, sleepy Dorset on England’s Jurassic Coast will host Extreme E’s first ever event on UK soil (if you don’t count the time Mr Flintoff pitted the Odyssey 21 racer up against a man wearing a jet pack, which you should), with racing taking place on the weekend of 18-19 December. At least the weather should be fairly extreme at that time of year.
Anyway, the race will actually take place at Bovington Camp (home of the excellent Tank Museum), with Extreme E working with the British Army to devise a course with “natural obstacles”.
Thoughts, Internet?
