Caterham’s new electric ‘Project V’ will have a proper roof!
Shady teaser revealed of another new electric concept car. Caterham’s on a roll
Caterham has announced a rather seismic new concept car, and it’s not the fact said car will feature an electric powertrain or look unlike anything else in its history.
It’s the fact this car looks like it’ll feature a proper roof! Welcome to the future – mind your head as you get in.
Dubbed ‘Project V’, we’re only told the concept is a “bold new design” and promises to deliver on Caterham’s fundamental principles of being “focussed, lightweight and fun to drive”.
Oh yeah, and it’s electric, though as mentioned that’s now no surprise. Late last month we saw a different electric Caterham concept in the shape of a prototype Seven. Designed primarily for track days, it targeted a weight of less than 700kg and featured a 50.8kWh battery powering a 240bhp electric motor on the rear axle.
Whether Caterham will once more partner up with Swindon Powertrain – who helped with the e-Seven – for Project V remains to be seen. Caterham has simply said: “This is the essence of a sports car with an electric powertrain. This is a statement of intent. This is Project V.”
We’ll see the full car next month, so stay tuned…
