Ambitious fast EV charging network installs award-winning chargers, has BIG plans

UK EV drivers hope evyve is better at installing chargers than creating brand names

Published: 24 Jan 2023

Manchester-based EV charging network, Evyve, has set about installing 60 fast chargers, in pursuit of its 10,000-chargers-by-2030 plans. The network aims to spend £25 million in the next two years on fast and ultra-fast charging stations - welcome news to the swath of new EV drivers worried about enroute and destination charging.

Eyeing the title of ‘preferred fast charging network’ for the UK’s electric car drivers, Evyve - a palindrome of illegibility when handwritten - put an order for 350 charging stations in with global charge point manufacturer, Tritium. The first 60 charge points have been delivered, installed and are now operational, for the win.

Tritium’s award-winning fast- and ultra-fast modular chargers have a hefty power delivery of 75kW and 150kW respectively. Jane Hunter, Tritium CEO, said: "With the number of registered battery-electric cars in the UK growing by more than 40 per cent in 2022, it's more important than ever that drivers have access to fast and reliable charging technology to ensure a convenient driver experience and a seamless transition to e-mobility.

"This announcement is a reflection of an increasing number of conversations with customers looking to address anticipated multi-year demand and secure product availability beyond just the next 12 months."

Name joshing aside, Evyve’s ambition isn’t as wild as it might first appear. Working with retail parks and hospitality venues, it has access to plenty of sites, including Greene King’s 2,700 pubs and restaurants.
