This all-electric AC Cobra has 617bhp

The Cobra Series 4 Electric costs £168,000 and claims 200 miles on a charge

Published: 07 Dec 2020

This isn’t modern-day AC Cars’ first all-electric Cobra. The Series 1 was announced back in July. Designed to look like an early, original Cobra, it had a 304bhp e-motor and 54kWh battery for 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and 150 miles of range. The new Series 4 Electric, though, is something else.

Looks proper, doesn’t it? Styled after the Cobra ‘Superblower’, the Series 4 ups the ante with a whopping 617bhp/738lb ft electric motor from Derby-based company Falcon Electric. That means 0-62mph takes just 3.8 seconds. Still has a 54kWh battery, but now AC claims around 200 miles of range, which is useful.

Its kerbweight is around 1,190kg, so this is by no means a heavy car. There’s a choice of 15 colours and yes, you can have STRIPES.

The price? It’s not cheap, but you knew that. You’re looking at £168,000 plus “on the road charges”, which makes the Series 4 roughly the same price as a Porsche 911 Turbo S. So you have to really want one.

And fear not traditionalists, you can have one with a V8 if you’re so inclined.
