The 295bhp Skoda Enyaq iV vRS not-the-Coupe is here

Getting deja vu? This is the SUV version of the Enyaq… and it’s got just as much vRS-ness as the Coupe

Published: 25 Oct 2022

We’ve already seen the 295bhp vRS version of the Skoda Enyaq iV Coupe, now it’s time for the 295bhp vRS version of the Skoda Enyaq iV SUV.

Yup, nine months split the unveiling of both cars (rather a lot has happened in that time, hasn’t it?) and yet all that separates them is the profile of that roofline: here the SUV version is worth an entire 15 litres more boot space than the vRS Coupe. Skoda, you spoil us with this capaciousness.

The punchy powertrain - necessary to justify the sporty badges - is identical to that of the Coupe, with an electric motor on each axle delivering all-wheel drive, 339lb ft and hence a 0-62mph figure of 6.5 seconds. Meanwhile the top speed is 111mph.

Underneath you’ll find an 82kWh battery, good for 310 miles of range on paper: Skoda puts this figure down to the added slipperiness that comes with lowering the ride height by 15 and 10mm on the front and rear axles respectively via the standard ‘sports suspension’. Which might be stretching things a bit.

Buyers get the choice of 20- or 21-inch wheels, and there’s a liberal helping of gloss black features including the grille, window frames, wing mirror covers, rear diffuser and most of the interior too.

Inside you’ll find lots of this-is-the-top-spec giveaways, such as LED ambient lighting, an inductive phone charger, contrast stitching, a fancy 12-speaker sound system and digital displays: the central touchscreen measures 13 inches while the driver display is a more restrained 5.3in.

No word on how much you’ll need to pay just yet, but when the vRS Coupe was launched it carried a sticker price of £51,885. A quick look on the configurator shows that’s now jumped up to £54,370, very nearly what you’d pay for a Tesla Model Y Long Range. Ouch.
