For $10k, you can upgrade your Tesla Model S to Ludicrous mode

Tesla announces retrofit, meaning you can go from 0-60mph in 2.8secs

Published: 24 Mar 2016

Quick one: if you own a Tesla Model S, you can now upgrade it to a (self-proclaimed) ludicrous level of performance for ten thousand of your finest US dollars.

Yes, Tesla has announced a retrofit option for owners of the P90D, allowing an upgrade to 'Ludicrous' mode, which of course, brings about much acceleration and speed. Previously, you could only option Ludicrous mode when configuring your new Model S. Now, you can upgrade if you missed out the first time.

The result? The 0-60mph time drops to just 2.8 seconds, the quarter mile time takes just 10.9secs, while the top speed rises to 155mph. It's all thanks to a few choice mods on the battery pack.

"Upgrade the level of performance in your existing P90D from “INSANE” to “LUDICROUS!", screams Tesla. It's available on all P90D models, and you'll even get a new badge too.

European pricing has yet to be confirmed. Any Model S owners out there want to take Tesla up on the, um, upgrade? If you're still unsure, click below to read our handy guide.
