It’s been a while since we last heard from the automotive wing of the Dubai law enforcement community. With the Dubai motor show starting this week, we figured the famously flush constabulary would’ve taken the opportunity to add something else to its fleet. A LaFerrari, maybe. Or the Space Shuttle Atlantis.
Until this morning, we thought keeping the Veyron in fuel had taken its toll on the Dubai rozzers’ budget. But no, for it’s just unwrapped its latest acquisition: an 874bhp, near-£800,000 Porsche 918 Spyder. Nice.Decked out in the now familiar white and green livery, we suspect that, like the force’s other flagships motors, the 918 will be used mostly for promotional duties, and patrolling tourist-heavy hotspots. Don’t expect to see it involved in any (very) high-speed pursuits anytime soon. Boo.
The coming of motor show also gave Dubai’s finest the perfect excuse to trot out their existing über-deterrants, and us the perfect excuse to remind ourselves of why the minted city's police force has unquestionably the most outrageous fleet anywhere in the world.Click the big arrow to have a look at some – and by no means all – of their more eclectic assets…
