Dacia Duster gets pimped

Good news!  A German tuner has announced a modification programme for the Dacia Duster.

Yes, James May's favourite humble soft-roader gets lightly spanked with the bejewelled pimp stick. Elia, who we've never heard of before, has introduced two packages for our little Romanian hero.

The first, called the ‘Adventure Kit', adds a whopping bull-bar to the front end and some protective side skirts. The second gets the West Coast Customs treatment, with 16-inch alloys (18-inchers are optional), LED daytime running lights, new side skirts and a chrome exhaust pipe.

Should you require your Duster to actually have more poke than the appliance after which it is named, there is even a tuning kit that recalibrates the ECU in the 1.5-litre diesel and ups power to a faintly giddying 122bhp. However...

Bad news! A German tuner has announced a modification programme for the Dacia Duster.

Surely, the Duster's modest charm lies in its, erm, modesty? The humble motor is a little bit cool because it doesn't try to be anything other than a means of transportation.

Can you really pimp a Duster and get away with it?
