Is Zagato planning a Lamborghini '595' Spyder?
Mysterious image of a green, roofless modified Lamborghini surfaces
This is a modified Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. At least, that’s what history - and our eyes - tell us. It has surfaced on Zagato’s website badged as the ‘2018 Lamborghini L595 Zagato’.
Ah yes, 595. That moniker was applied to a very special one-off Zagato built in 2014 for a very special customer: one Albert Spiess. Mr Spiess is the custodian of several one-off cars and Lamborghini firsts, and requested Zagato build him something mighty.
Considering there is zero information about this new green Thing, we shall use Spiess’s original 595 to go on. The Gallardo’s 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 powertrain was all Lambo, punching out 570bhp and 397lb ft of torque to all four wheels. It'd do 0-62mph in 3.4secs and 202mph flat out.
The rebodied bit will require more pictures in due course, but naturally, the roof scoop of the 2014 car has disappeared because there is no roof. The front follows the lines of the coupe, the air scoops at the side remain, and there appears to be a new rear haunch setup.
Outside of that, we shall wait and see. Pore over this solitary pic in the meantime, and tell us what you'd like to have commissioned...
