This is a semi-hardcore Lexus RC F
Lexus strips weight out of RC F to create one-off concept
This is not a hardcore Lexus RC F to battle the BMW M4 GTS and probably happening Mercedes-AMG C63 Black. Sorry. It’s a concept, based on the standard RC F and set to run between races at the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend.
The RC F GT Concept makes do with the standard car’s engine and eight-speed automatic transmission (with modified lubrication and cooling systems plus a performance exhaust), but the kerbweight has been trimmed by a whopping 363kg, thanks largely to CFRP body panels and polycarbonate windows.
Lexus quotes ‘over 460bhp’ and ‘more than 390lb ft’ of torque for the Concept, which slots neatly into the range between the standard RC F and GT3 race car.
The suspension has been reinforced, and the software tweaked to “expand [its] handling envelope”. Righto. Oh, and it also has a Very Big Wing. Because why wouldn’t you.
