This one-off McLaren 675LT gets a fighter-jet interior

CES concept car gets P1 GTR steering wheel, cameras and a head-up display

Published: 07 Jan 2016

Inside this rather special McLaren 675LT, you will find no instrument cluster. Instead, you will find a head-up display, a steering wheel from the P1 GTR, and digital cameras in place of wing mirrors.

No prizes for guessing, then, that this is a car built for the Consumer Electronics Show. Making its debut in Las Vegas at the annual tech-fest, this one-off McLaren gets treated to some special equipment.

With partners JVC Kenwood, this 675LT not only gets that special wheel, HUD and driver assistance systems, but also three cameras in place of the rear view mirror. Which means a fully digital cockpit.

A fully digital cockpit with leather atop its bespoke dash, a new waxy-grained fabric and some orange thrown in. Because why the hell not, right?

The IPAS and DRS buttons you’d normally find on the P1 GTR-borrowed wheel have been replaced with controls for the HUD. Graphics, we’re told, inspired by fighter jets. Again, why not?

So it’s a McLaren 675LT – one of TG’s favourite recent supercars – in stealth black with a digital cockpit and racing stripes. Have a click through the pics and let us know what you think.

Considering all 500 units of the 675LT have sold out, should McLaren offer this digital dash as a retrofit option?
