The one-off Hyundai ‘Insteroid’ is a giant rear wing with a tiny EV attached
Hyundai understands fun, and it’s proven that once again with this wacky Inster-based concept
Hyundai has stuck its novelty clown shoes on yet again and teased this one-off concept, dubbed the ‘Insteroid’. And yes, what you’re looking at is a humble Inster EV that’s been fitted with all manner of motorsport-inspired parts and even more pixels than a RuneScape Classic server.
When your attention finally deviates from that jumbo-sized two-panel rear wing, you’ll notice that even these shady images show that the Insteroid is much wider than the original car, courtesy of a new wide arch body kit that stretches seamlessly from front to back.
Supplementary details include 21in alloys with an unusual three-sphere design, a roof scoop and a stonking great diffuser. The front wheel arches gain some extra vents too, and we’d wager that won’t be the only place that does.
A peak through the vinyl-covered windows reveals some scaffolding in place of the rear seats, but rest assured, this is most certainly not a serious car. Hyundai has even confirmed the interior will gain lots of 'fun' elements, though we wonder if that includes a storage compartment for your freshly mined Runite ore.
We won’t have to wait long to find out, because the Insteroid’s full public reveal is scheduled for early next month. Is this the car to take on the 536bhp Renault 5 Turbo 3E?
