Nissan Juke news - Juke of darkness - 2009
Remember the Qazana concept that Nissan showed us at last year's Geneva show? The segment-busting five-seat SUV-hatch-thing? Yeah, that one.
Well, now the Qazana is here in production form. Nearly. It'll be unveiled next month, and it is called the Juke (which means, we confidently predict, it shall continually be misnamed the Duke. Duke, Juke. Say 'em out loud and see if you can tell the difference. We can't).
To keep us keen until February, Nissan has released this shadowy teaser shot - at least, we hope it's a teaser shot, or else they've foolishly forgotten to build the lower half of the car - which shows the Juke looking surprisingly true to the Qazana concept. The suicide doors of the concept have, inevitably, disappeared. But the overall proportions remain similar: tall and bulgy and large of wheelarch.
If you're struggling to get a handle on the Juke's size, it sits between the Note and Qashqai: sort of B+ segment, we reckon, which should make it a rival for the Mini Clubman. Only taller. And with four-wheel drive. It's a tricky car to pin down, the Juke, but we've got a good feeling about it.
Not least because it'll be built at Nissan's Sunderland factory along with the Qashqai and Note - a welcome little shot in the arm for British manufacturing.
We'll get a proper look at the Juke in early February. Waddya reckon, TopGearists?
