The Infiniti Prototype 10 is a single-seat speedster

Pebble Beach debut for Infiniti's follow-up to last year's 40s-inspired EV racer

Published: 16 Aug 2018

You might remember the car Infiniti showed at last year’s Pebble Beach concours. Called the Prototype 9, it was designed to show what a 1940s Infiniti Grand Prix racer might have looked like. Had the company actually been around in the Forties, obviously. To Infiniti’s credit, it was a cool (if pointless) thing. Just like most concepts, then.

This year’s car is called the Prototype 10, and we’re promised it will be a “daring electrified speedster” just like the P9. But while the P9 drew its styling cues from cars of the past, the P10 is set to have a “clean, forward-looking design” inspired by the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept.

The company’s design boss Karim Habib (formerly of BMW) says the concept “echoes the layout and design of some of the most evocative car designs of all time”, and that our “electrified future” is “reflected in its form and details”.

Said “form and details” are previewed by this, erm, drawing, ahead of the car’s official reveal on August 23rd. Say what you want about Infiniti’s road cars, but there’s no denying it does a good concept, which is why we’re looking forward to this one more than we probably ought to.

We'll be at Pebble and will bring you all the details as we have them.
