Check out the new Mitsubishi XFC Concept
Compact SUV concept previews an all-new Mitsubishi. Just not for us in the UK…
Though we'd dearly love to be writing about the latest bonkers special edition of a Lancer Evo XI right now, we're left with this: the Mitsubishi XFC Concept. Of course it's a compact SUV, unveiled in Vietnam and previewing a new crossover for the Southeast Asian markets.
Anyway, Mitsubishi says that the XFC Concept aims to be the “best-suited buddy for an exciting life", whatever that means. The exterior design includes chunky arches, an angry-faced grille and T-shaped lights that have more than a hint of Volvo about them. Apparently it follows a philosophy of ‘Robust & Ingenious’.
The interior looks fantastic though, with plenty of soft-touch materials and some lovely looking leather/cloth seats. Not too screen-heavy either.
There’s no technical details as of yet, but it looks like the crossover that’s born from the XFC Concept will launch with an internal combustion powertrain and potentially four-wheel drive. “We will launch the new compact SUV sequentially in the ASEAN markets including Vietnam in fiscal year 2023,” says Mitsubishi boss Takao Kato. “In the future, we plan to add an electrified variant to the lineup and to also roll it out in regions outside ASEAN. We hope to grow the model from a vehicle for the ASEAN market to a global strategic vehicle.”
