You must buy this super-rare slant-nose Porsche 911
But you probably can't afford it. Incredible ‘Flachbau’ 964 Turbo S pops up for sale
It was way back in the early Eighties that Porsche started selling ‘Flachbau’ 930 911s reminiscent of the 1979 Le Mans-winning 935. It was an expensive option and fewer than 1,000 cars were supposedly built, thus making them pretty collectible. But not as collectible as the 964 Flachbau, one of the rarest road-going 911s ever built. This is one of them.
All 76 were hand-made by Porsche Exclusive Department, and just 12 were delivered with right-hand drive. It was to see out the 964-shape 911, before the 993 (the last of the air-cooled 911s) was introduced in 1993.
Besides the flattened nose, there was a special rear spoiler and asymmetrical vents on the rear wheel arches. This one (and perhaps all of them, reports differ) has the X88 Turbo S upgrade that sees it deliver 385bhp thanks to an enlarged turbocharger among other modifications.
With just 630 miles on its odometer, this one has sat in a private collection since new and has therefore never before been offered for sale. How much? We wouldn’t care to guess, and the seller is keeping quiet. Expect it to be much costlier than the brand new 911 Turbo, though...
