This year's much loved Nürburgring 24hr race will take place this weekend, with over 200 vehicles taking to the track over day and night for much speed, much skill and much yawns around the 25km (15.5 mile) circuit.
But before the big boys take to the track, the 'Ring pays homage to races of old with the "Youngtimer Trophy", as the Germans call it, featuring old classics from race days gone by. Whether it's ex-winning machines or old classics daring to give it a go, drivers of all ages and experience take on the short competition in classics of the race track, featuring Porsche 911s, a gaggle of BMW E30s, an Opel Manta and the sexiest of all Dagenham race cars, the Ford Escort Mexico. Ay, caramba. Take a look at our behind the scenes photos to whet your 24hr appetite.
